A team with the potential to win the Champions league in the coming years will have to go to extraordinary lengths to get there, according to Spanish coach Andrés Iniesta.
With Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona also on course for a place in next season’s Champions League, it’s a position that could see the Azzurri reach the quarter-finals if they do well in the first leg of the group stage.”
There’s a real challenge for us to keep on working hard and winning trophies, but if the team stays at the level we want, then we can win the championship.”

If Barcelona finish top of the table, then it’s unlikely that they would face the pressure to fight for the last 16, but it’s likely that they will be on the lookout for a third Champions League spot should they fail to make the knockout stages.
“There are some teams that could finish top three, but we will be fighting for the final two, so we will need to do everything to stay in the top four,” said Iniesta, who has guided Real Madrid to six titles and the treble in the last four years.
“In terms of the first two, there’s no way Barcelona can win in Spain, but with a third place it will be possible to do that, and then it will depend on how we perform.”
Iniesta said he was confident that his team would win the group, but that he is prepared to be flexible in his tactics.
“The only thing is that I’m not a player who likes to change tactics every game, because I like to play the way we need to play,” he said.
“For the first match, we had to play a lot of football and we played a lot with pace, because we are not a team who plays with great intensity.”
But after that, we can go to the next match, play with the same style, and we can play with more intensity.
“Real Madrid won’t be in the same position in the group as Barcelona, but they have the ability to go on to win La Liga if they make it to the final.
